Tea or Kool-Aid

The following article was written by Roger Brown, a Preamble Patriot

Tea or Kool-Aid

For as long as I can remember, I have heard it said that we live in the “Land of Milk and Honey”, and that each citizen should be willing to stand up and fight for the freedoms we each take for granted. Well, the time has come to test the metal of every citizen of this great nation. We are in a crisis, and it seems that the people who should be up in arms are content to let our Politian’s lie to us, line their own pockets and do as they darned well please. We have allowed our elected officials to pass laws which apply to us (the people who put them in office) but exclude them. We have watched them vote themselves pay raises each and every year, with no concern for the welfare of the common man and his plight to survive in an economy they created. We have seen bills passed that do nothing but reward special interest groups who have made campaign donations in exchange for favors. We have seen our Congress pass laws that bail out private companies and banks, in what is laughingly called a capitalist society. We have watched as the pork barrel spending has become so over the top that our grandchildren will be paying for their entire lives for the mistakes we have allowed Congress to get away with. In effect, we have been drinking the “Kool-Aid” that Congress has served us for years. That poison Kool-Aid has caused us to fight class warfare between ourselves and the “wealthy”, caused us to change our social habits because they were not “politically correct”, given us the mind set that we can not buck the system because we only have one vote and caused us to think of what happens in Washington DC as out of our control.

Well, those who fought the British for our freedoms would not have made the sacrifices they made if the had known how little regard we have for the rights and privileges we have been given. Have our backbones turned to jelly? Are we no more than puppets for the people we elect? Do we not understand the consequences of doing nothing to take back the birthright we were given? Are we willing to sit on our collective behinds and let our Government make slaves of us, and allow them to devour the “milk and honey” that belongs to all of us?

There are those of us who are trying to take a stand and let the politicians know we will not tolerate their mishandling of our country any longer. We hold and attend “Tea Parties” to make our opinions known. We email, call and write our Senators and Congressmen to tell them to stop what they are doing and listen to the people. Our numbers are growing, and there may still be a chance we can pull the fat from the fire. But the fight to regain control of the “land of the free” is far from over. We need to make some drastic changes, or what we grew up with will be gone for ever.

As a grassroots effort, we need to repeal the sixteenth amendment and take the purse away from Congress. We need to demand a law be passed requiring all laws to apply equally to all citizens (including Congress). We need to establish Term Limits for both the House of Representatives and the Senate (my suggestion would be a one term limit of six years for both). Although I do not expect it will ever happen, I would like to see a law enacted to force accountability of Congress, if they mislead or out and out lie they go to jail. I am sick to death of the way the people of this country are being treated, and I am asking everyone to make a commitment to change the way Washing DC is being run.

Are we going to continue to “drink the Kool-Aid” or is the time right to make “Tea” the drink of choice? It is true that no one person can change the Government, but together we can and must change our Government before it is too late. If you will not fight for your self, fight for your children and grandchildren. They expect us to leave them the country our Fathers left for us.
