Preamble and XVI Amendment

In reading the Constitution of the United States, the Preamble is a powerful introduction. You may find yourself reading it over and over; each time analyzing the meaning of those words: WE THE PEOPLE, Blessings of Liberty, Welfare and Posterity.


PREAMBLE

WE THE PEOPLE of the UNITED STATES, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, and promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

The 16th Amendment to the Constitution is also very powerful. Analyze the meaning of those thirty words in contrast to the words of the preamble.

Amendment XVI

The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without census or enumeration.


With this amendment our Government has been given the power to rule our freedom, our liberties, our welfare and posterity; this is not what our founding fathers intended.
